With classics like Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog in Coney Island or the Porter House from Peter Luger’s, the struggle to come up with food that matches the quality of already existing restaurants in Brooklyn is real.

In this video, we’ll be taking a look at five new restaurants in Brooklyn that think they have what it takes to compete.

Laser Wolf Brooklyn

With a tagline like “sweat and eat meat”, Laser Wolf is an interesting addition to the restaurant scene of Brooklyn. It’s a famous Philadelphia restaurant that’s looking to get a slice of the pie in Brooklyn, and it just might be able to do that.

Wenwen

Wenwen is a great up-and-coming restaurant. It’s a follow-up to 886, a successful Taiwanese restaurant known for their modern takes and on-tap sake.

Wenwen, on the other hand, is known for its numbing celtuce salad, pork belly with cuttlefish, and a highly recommended whole fried chicken that only five lucky customers can order every night.

Ensenada

Ensenada is a breath of fresh air after the first two hearty restaurants on this list. They focus on lighter and more vegetable-leaning choices. Ensenada is a traditional take on mariscos and mescals, proudly donning Latin American coastal cuisine.

Their tostada de viera, with scallops, labneh, salsa seca, jicama, and apple, is a must-try when visiting.

Nabila’s

With the restaurant’s operation, this place feels like a mixture between a salad joint and your mom’s kitchen but in a very good way. It’s simple, traditional, and dedicated to serving great food without the unnecessary flashy presentations.

Nabila’s baked beef dumplings, dipped in their yogurt sauce, are something you must order when trying them out.

Cafe Spaghetti

Yes, Cafe Spaghetti serves great spaghetti. No, Cafe Spaghetti doesn’t exclusively offer spaghetti only. This newly opened joint is a cozy home-style Italian restaurant with surprisingly many to choose from.

Their polpo insalata, eggplant parmigiana, and of course spaghetti Pomodoro are must-tries.
