8 Chadwick Boseman Movies

We’ve compiled eight of his best films according to Rotten Tomatoes so strap in, get yourself some popcorn, and be amazed at Chadwick Boseman and his many film personas!

The Express (2008)

The Express is a true story about Ernie Davis, the first African-American college football legend to win the Heisman trophy. Although Chadwick Boseman gets involved in quite a few sports dramas, we highly recommend checking this out as it’s one of his first flicks!

He plays a secondary character, Floyd Litter, in the flick, and his acting screams potential even in the early years of his career!

Get On Up (2014)

Get on up is a biography of the legendary Godfather of Soul, James Brown, as he rides through rocky roads to get stardom! Although this one is quite different from most of the roles the versatile actor takes, you can feel the passion in his acting as he sings and says every line in the script.

Getting a 79 on Rotten Tomatoes, you can be sure to enjoy this film start to finish.

42 (2013)

This movie made the spotlight shine even brighter for Chadwick Boseman, as this is his first starring role in a film! This is another sports biography, this time based on the first-ever African-American to play in Major League Baseball, Jackie Robinson.

Struggling with racism, this movie is compelling, tragic, and inspiring at the same time! With each scene and struggle, you get a feel for the character and start rooting for him throughout the movie.

Marshall (2017)

Another riveting autobiography, but this time, Chadwick Boseman plays as Thurgood Marshall on one of his most controversial cases before he became the first African-American Supreme Court Justice. The movie stars actors such as Sterling K. Brown, Josh Gad, and even Kate Hudson!

The case is about an African-American employee accused of raping his Caucasian boss. Chadwick Boseman’s performance as Marshall defending his defendant is phenomenal and is worthy of praise!

Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

Starring as Black Panther is one of the movies with one of the most intense cliff-hangers in history, and it’s no surprise that this movie is on the top 4! We get to see a lot of the King of Wakanda beating bad guys and being a total badass on the film’s climax as well as (spoiler alert!) the heart-wrenching scene of the snap that brought everyone in the cinema to tears.

Captain America: Civil War (2016)

This movie is where we first get a glimpse of Chadwick Boseman donning the Black Panther suit and shocking every MCU fan with his performance. He played a big part in the creation of one of the biggest superhero brawls in film history and made everyone excited for a possible solo movie!

Avengers: Endgame (2019)

One of the most highly anticipated superhero movies in recent history, Endgame marked an end of an era and a conclusion for the years of hype built up by the Marvel franchise. Being the newest in the franchise, and possibly the last film with the complete original cast, Marvel gave it they’re all with this one.

Black Panther returned to the big screen on one of the biggest fights in the MCU as the Avengers take their last stand against Thanos. His performance was once again spectacular and made us all fall in love, with his character even more!

Black Panther (2018)

We all expected this one. Black Panther was a cultural phenomenon and made waves in Hollywood. A film that pits Chadwick Boseman as Tchalla against Michael B. Jordan as Killmonger to fight for the throne, we are shown the brilliance and talent of the actor as he portrays his most famous role.

An incredible movie was garnering a 97 on Rotten Tomatoes for an excellent actor. It’s almost as if the character was made for him, and we can’t think of anyone who would have donned the black outfit better than Chadwick Boseman.
