When It Began
The couple, who started dating in 2016 and got married in 2019, were one of Hollywood’s favorites at the time. Most of the articles and news around them were positive, and they lived a pretty simple life with a healthy relationship. They had two girls, one who was born in 2020 and the other in 2022.
The Rumors
It all began when tabloids started writing about Sophie Turner and how she’s an irresponsible mother. The rumors claim that Turner preferred to party instead of taking care of her children. To make things worse, tabloids also wrote about how Joe Jonas was the opposite, preferring to stay home and care for the kids.
News escalated, everyone discussed it on social media, and the split was confirmed.
The Divorce
The divorce was announced publicly through Instagram. Sophie Turner posted a statement, whichsays was from both of them. In this statement, she says:
“After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage.”
She then goes on to address the rumors:
“There are many speculative narratives as to why, but truly, this is a united decision” Shutting down further speculation.
She adds that the decision was a united decision and that she hopes that everyone can respect their wishes for privacy and their children.
Other Details
Before the joint statement, Joe Jonas filed divorce paperwork with the help of Tom Sasser. Tom Sasser was also the divorce attorney for Tiger Woods.
In the paperwork, Jonas specifies that the relationship and the marriage is “irretrievably broken.”
Despite the statement asking for privacy, tabloids added fuel to the fire by talking about how Joe Jonas is such an amazing father and Sophie Turner is the opposite as a parent.
TMZ even went so far as to report that Sophie Turner bought chairs that were “too tall” so Joe’s “little legs” couldn’t touch the ground.
Today, there still isn’t any public information about how the divorce proceedings will go and where the custody of the children will go. With allegations of parental lapses for Turner, we may get the rare case of the father getting custody.
