As part of the new normal, tech giants are also Facebook Inc. and Google are telling their staff to get ready to stay at home for 2020.

Google Employees to Work from Home

Alphabet Inc., the parent of Google, has informed their employees to prepare to work remotely through October or, possibly, December of 2020. The spokeswoman of the company also confirmed that they are expecting that the majority of their staff will work remotely until 2021.

Sundar Pichai, the company’s chief executive officer, had informed employees through an email that some of the offices will open in June. However, only a maximum of 15% of their employees will work on-site.

Jacquelline Fuller, head of Google.org, also adds that if they can still work remotely, then they’ll do it, significantly if it can help to flatten the curve. With more than 100,000 employees, work will return in staggered to ensure safety.

Facebook Giving Employees Options

Facebook is also giving its employees options until 2020. The social media company had informed its employees that they could decide to work remotely until the end of the year. Facebook also added that they are not expecting to open their offices until June 6.

Their employees have been working from home since March and continuously being paid per hour. Facebook had also started canceling physical events, including the Oculus Connect VR conference, and is now an online event.

Zillow Approach

Zillow, an online real estate company, is also allowing its employees to work from home until December of 2020. Rich Barton, the CEO, and co-founder, shared his sentiments on the changes that will occur at home and work.

However, not all tech giants are conforming to the new norm. Elon Musk is advocating opening the economy. California is also starting to open business doors with limitations, including manufacturing companies.
