Here are our Local NYC Favorite Takeouts! With quarantine keeping everyone inside and essentially bringing a lot of people’s moods down. Sometimes getting a bite to eat may be the easiest way to lift our moods. However, sometimes you don’t want to go through the hassle of having to make a home-cooked meal even if you  want to taste something familiar!

Luckily, restaurants have recently started reopening and blessing the public with delivery and takeout orders. Even outdoor dining is now available in some restaurants, which is a lot safer since the chances of transmission in wide-open spaces!

Local NYC Favorite Takeouts

With this in mind, here are some of our favorite takeout food and restaurants in New York during this pandemic!

Chinelos Birria Tacos – Birria Tacos

This van parked right outside of East River Waterfront in Hunter’s Point, and Long Island City grabs a spot in our list for their Birria Tacos. They cost only $10 for a meal of one of the best Tacos in New York.

With tortillas being dipped in meat juices and beef that is bright red and brimming with flavor, what’s not to love? You can even request for a cup of stew so that you have something to dip your tacos in to amplify the flavor further!

Terra Thai – Basil Chicken

Terra Thai has only recently opened its doors and is currently only serving five dishes for carryout. All of them are priced around $10, making them incredibly affordable if you want something filling and familiar to gobble up for lunch.

Our top pick for the dishes that they currently serve is the basil chicken. Considered a Bangkok street food, this dish is poultry rendered into well-cooked strips and tendrils mixed with sweet peppers, herbs, and chiles! The dish also comes with rice, steamed sweet potato, sliced cucumbers, and a runny poached egg.

With a complete meal that’ll help you power through the day!

Peppa’s – Jerk Chicken

Coming in at $9 for half of a chicken, the people at Peppa know what they’re doing. Being incredibly inexpensive while still managing to taste incredible, this is something that you should try out if you’re a fan of roasted chicken.

The all-spice seasoned bird retains its juices having succulent meat and a flavor-filled outer layer of skin. The vinegar dip goes incredibly well with it, and trying the chicken without it is like eating vanilla ice cream without the toppings.

Try ordering Long Johns (linear-shaped donuts) with it because it’s a match made in heaven.

Happy Hot Hunan – Smoked Pork And Bamboo

Hunan’s cuisine has always emphasized and excellence at bringing out that smoked flavor in most of their dishes. This smoked pork and bamboo stir fry is no exception. It was priced at $17.95, the smoked pork and bamboo more than justifies its price with its flavor.

With smoked pork belly that tastes more like barbecue than bacon and a smokey yet surprisingly creamy mix of bamboo shoots with red and green chiles, this one takes the cake for one of the best stir-fries in New York.

Give this to your loved ones, and they’ll surely be impressed and left wanting for more after the meal!

Caravan – Uighur Pilaf

If you want a dish that symbolizes Silk Road, this Uighur Pilaf is probably the best candidate. For only $12.99, you get fried rice cooked with lamb juices, the boiled lamb that is tender and still retains that superb flavor, and a few vegetables mixed in with the rice.

The pure flavors that come with this pilaf are amplified by the Asian spices laced in such as cumin. The rice is also boiled with silvers of carrots giving it a distinctly sweet flavor!

Tulcingo Del Valle -Chorizo And Potato Cemita

If you want a sandwich that gives you a bang for your buck, this Pueblan Cemita for only $10.50 will give you just that and more!

This sandwich isn’t just filling with sausages, spuds, avocado, Oaxaca cheese, and refried beans. It’s also incredibly flavorful! The creamy cheese paired with the fatty chorizo sausage and the potatoes’ base flavor is to die for. An oval leaf spice called papalo adds a flavor that you most likely have never even tasted before!
