With the city of dreams being one of the most diverse cities globally, the culinary experiences in restaurants are limitless. From cultures worldwide and chefs who have honed their skills for decades, we’ll be listing down five restaurants in NYC you should be visiting.

1. Lombardi’s

Operating since 1905, Lombardi’s is the first pizzeria in New York and in the entirety of the United States. If you’re looking for a restaurant that’s both a culinary experience and a historical one, then this is the right place.

This iconic restaurant results from Gennaro Lombardi opening up a shop with the skills he learned from Naples, the birthplace of pizza. Although some would say that there are better pizzerias in the area—and that may be true, nothing beats eating at the place where it all started.

2. Delmonico’s

Most people know Delmonico’s like a steak place, but it’s more than that. The first restaurant in New York claims to have invented several dishes that are now famous worldwide: The Eggs Benedict, Chicken A la Keene, and Baked Alaska, to name a few.

They’re also known for their iconic namesake, the Delmonico Steak. It’s a small steak cut from the front section of the short loin and has been popularized by Delmonico’s since the mid-19th century. History aside, Delmonico’s is one of the top-rated steakhouses in New York.

3. Bo Ky

Despite being one of the best noodle shops in the city, Bo Ky is often an underrated destination. It’s one of the few restaurants in Chinatown that specializes in the cuisine of China’s Chaoshan region.

Their menu presents a combination of Cantonese and Southeast Asian flavors. While their noodle menu is long and the restaurant’s highlight, options like their amazing roasted duck and spring rolls are also available.

4. ABC Kitchen

ABC Kitchen by Jean-Georges Vongerichten is one of the most iconic spots in his empire of restaurants. It’s one of the titans of the fine-dining scene in The Big Apple, and it’s frequented by celebrities like Kanye West, Katy Perry, and Russel Brand.

ABC Kitchen emphasizes committing to the freshest organic and local ingredients possible. Dishes like Roasted Portobello, Housemade Chicken and Pork Sausage, and their homemade Ricotta Ravioli are must-tries.

If you’re looking to meet some celebrities while dining in an A-list restaurant, this might just be the place for you.

5. Old Homestead Steakhouse

Originally named the Tidewater Trading Post, the Old Homestead is another iconic restaurant with a deep history. With a German family opening up the restaurant in New York’s meatpacking district at the time, this steakhouse has been open since 1868.

Old Homestead is known for its legendary prime-aged USDA steaks. Trying out their signature sirloin steak or their filet mignon and porterhouse is something you should do when visiting a steakhouse that has been perfecting its craft for centuries.
