They began dating in 2002 after they met each other on the set of Gigli, while Jennifer was dealing with an impending divorce with then-partner Cris Judd.
The two were very sweet and supportive, and the relationship grew even more after the movie. Rumors of the two datings were virtually an open secret, but they had only gone public with their relationship after the divorce was filed.
In November of that year, Jennifer Lopez released her Jenny From the Block music video, which featured none other than Ben and the couple’s experience with being hounded by paparazzi all the time. The MV hit off well, and the Beniffer ship sailed at full speed.
Their engagement was then confirmed in an interview with Diane Sawyer on live television, and they flaunted a custom-made six-carat pink diamond engagement ring.
2003
The engaged couple was full-blown lovey-dovey for a majority of 2003, during which both of them were cementing their names in Hollywood, but the wedding which was supposed to be held in Santa Barbara was eventually postponed due to excessive media attention.
What was seen as just a slight delay in the couple’s wedding eventually ended with a break-up, and Lopez moved on to marry Marc Anthony in 2004, while Affleck married Jennifer Garner in 2005.
Nothing between the two would happen until 2021, when old embers rekindled.
2021
After 20 years of growing apart, the two were finally spotted together again in public numerous times for a few months. Rumors of dating resurfaced, and they eventually confirmed that they were dating.
2022
Fans were stoked with the return of Beniffer, but nothing could excite us more than J-Lo’s Twitter post, where she confirmed they were again engaged by flaunting a green diamond engagement ring.
Rumors of the marriage date are all over the internet, but they still aren’t confirmed dates and locations. What we do know, however, is that the two’s bond is stronger than ever, and happily ever after is definitely a possibility.
