Aside from all the tourist destinations in The Big Apple, New York is also home to a diverse population of people worldwide.

This has translated into NYC becoming a melting pot for great food. For this video, we’ll list down 5 of them you must try.

1. Pastrami

First on this list is one of the lesser known of the upper echelon of New York dishes. The pastrami is heavenly, when done right.

Who wouldn’t love layers of smoked beef brisket piled in between a bun of rye bread and topped with condiments like brown mustard, pickles, and barbecue sauce?

2. Pizza

Everyone knows what a pizza is, but not everyone has had the chance to try an authentic New York pepperoni pizza. It would be a sin not to try this glorious slice of dough, cheese, tomato sauce, and pepperoni if you had the chance to.

3. Bagel

A bagel isn’t something many people from all over the world look for when coming to New York, but it should. This is probably because the rest of the world just doesn’t do bagels the way they do in NYC.

A great bagel is one that has a toasted, dense crust with a crunch but a chewy interior that isn’t too hard. Pair that with the multitude of jams, fillings, and cold cuts in New York, and you’re good to go.

4. Dim Sum

Chinese food? In New York? It might surprise you, but Dim Sum in New York is actually an entirely different experience than in China. The cuisine has grown in a different direction after almost 200 years of growth but still retains much of what makes Chinese food great.

5. New York Cheesecake

You should be looking for a dense, rich, and balanced flavor. Like how every meal should end, we’ll end this video with an amazing dessert.

Cheesecake is one of the best desserts in the world, and there’s no better place to get New York cheesecake than in New York itself.
