Greek food is amazing. Thanks to its unique history, its cuisine has become a melting pot of several Mediterranean cultures with a twist of their influence.

From citruses to cheeses and grilled meat, we’ll be taking a look at five great Greek restaurants in New York City.

1. Loi Estiatorio

Starting off this list with Loi Estiatorio is a good way to start it. Loi Estiatorio is an institution already in these parts, mostly thanks to its amazing food.

From their iconic Greek salad topped with creamy feta cheese to their lamb shank with tomatoes, onions, lamb jus, and loi orzo, you won’t regret dining in this Midtown restaurant.

2. To Laiko

For the next spot on this list, we have To Laiko, a Greek coffee shop with amazing food and even better coffee. Perfect for brunch, To Laiko has dishes like their spinach stuffed pies that go really great with their coffee.

With a name that translates to “The People’s,” we can confidently say that it is indeed the people’s.

3. Pylos

Pylos is a simple yet great-tasting Greek restaurant in East Village. It’s one of the spots that all locals absolutely adore, and their appetizers are the main reason for that.

From fried zucchini to halloumi, and even their artichoke moussaka, their appetizers just make the dining experience better.

4. Franky’s Souvlaki

For those who don’t know, souvlaki is a popular fast food that usually has a mixture of grilled pieces of meat, vegetables, and bread.

Franky’s takes their souvlaki seriously, and it’s part of the reason why they’re so successful as a food truck. They’re located in Steinway, where you can enjoy generous servings of meat in their gyros and sandwiches.

5. Telly’s Taverna

With an outdoor dining space, Telly’s Taverna is a great restaurant for Greek food as it’s usually strong-smelling and likely to stick with you—something nobody wants if they’re planning on strolling around after their meal.

Grilled fish is their specialty, but their spanakopita and fried vegetables are also amazing.
