As the 10th largest state by population, Great Lakes has plenty to offer tourists.

For this video, we’ll be taking a look at five must-visit places in Michigan.

1. Holland

As the name implies, the first place on this list is heavily inspired by the Dutch heritage of its population. It’s best to visit Holland during the holidays when the town transforms into a mini Netherlands with Dutch holiday traditions, roaming carolers, and fun parades.

If you aren’t able to visit during the holidays, the next best time would be during the Tulip Time Festival, where millions of tulips bloom together, and the locals hold all sorts of festivities.

2. Grand Rapids

Contrary to what the name suggests, Grand Rapids is actually a pretty urban place. It’s home to some of the best brews in the state and is actually an award-winning beer destination.

At the same time, art is also one of the highlights in the area. There are a lot of top-notch art museums and galleries in the city.

3. Mackinac Island

Mackinac Island is a place that would have been a good example if cities in the Victorian era found their way to modern times.

Ever since 1898, the island banned cars, changing the entire way the place runs. They’re only accessible by ferry or plane, and public transportation on the island is left entirely to horses and carriages.

4. Muskegon

Muskegon State Park is a great place for unwinding and reconnecting with nature. It’s home to two campgrounds and offers a lot for all outdoor enthusiasts.

Hiking areas and bike trails are one of the highlights of the state park, but roller coasters and zip lines are also fun activities to try out. Michigan’s Adventure and Muskegon Winter Sports Complex are must-visits!

5. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore

Last but definitely not least on this list is a place loved for its amazing scenery. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is 450 feet above Lake Michigan and has over 100 miles of trails for hiking, biking, skiing, and snowshoeing during the winter.

Of course, the serene bodies of water located all over the area also help make it more relaxing for people just looking to go picnicking.
