The common misconception that vegan food is second-rate food is entirely wrong.
These 5 vegan restaurants in The Big Apple will prove them wrong.

Spicy Moon

Serving classic Sichuan dishes at Sixth Street, East Village, Spicy Moon has plenty of dishes perfected for the palate.
Their classic Dandan Sichuan noodles, vegetable wonton in chili oil, and map tofu are all must-tries. Their scallion pancake and vegetable spring roll are also great bites.
Spicy Moon is one of the best Asian vegan restaurants in New York City.

Sunday C&C Eatery

Simple yet soulful, the S unday C&C Eatery in Bowery Market is a Latin American restaurant with plenty of vegan options.
Although they have quite a small menu with standouts such as ceviche, jalea, and arroz pegado, they also have occasional specials for which you should look out.
If you’re looking for a filling meal at an affordable price and a simple outdoor experience, this is the spot for you.

Jerrell’s BETR BRGR

Vegan burger has always been controversial, but Jerrell’s is a restaurant that aims to put a nail in that coffin.
Their menu is revolved around the O.G. BETR BRGR and variations around it, such as the LIL’ BETR BRGR and the SUPR BETR BRGR. Sides are also completely vegan, and we suggest you grab at least one of the crispy waffle fries, hearty chili bowl, or loaded chili fries.
On top of that, they also offer an assortment of completely vegan drinks and shakes for a full meal.

Dirt Candy

Vegan is already quite experimental, but Dirt Candy takes that up a notch.
They offer a five-course tasting menu utilizing the freshest harvest, so expect they’re quite on the pricey end, but they’re definitely worth the try.
From tomato cupcakes with smoked feta and cherry tomatoes to tamales stuffed with roasted baby corn and salsa verde, you’re bound to find something you’ll love on their menu.

The Original Buddha Bodai Kosher Vegetarian Restaurant

Last but not least is the Original Buddha Bodai Kosher Vegetarian Restaurant located in Chinatown. As you’d expect, they have most of the general vegan dishes in a Chinese restaurant but also unique dishes such as the Southeast Asian Curry Vegan Fishballs and their panfried turnip cakes.
