In this video, we’ll be listing down 5 must-visit lakes in the United States for you.

Lake Superior’s name says it all. It’s the largest freshwater lake in the world and there’s no reason why you shouldn’t visit it. Spanning Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, and even Ontario, this 2,800-mile lake is undoubtedly a must-visit.

There’s plenty to explore here. You can visit cliffs, beaches, waterfalls, and sea caves. You can also spend your time up close with wildlife like wolves and moose.

2. Lake Willoughby

Despite its crystal-clear waters and Instagrammable landscape, Lake Willoughby seems to be quite underrated.

Located in Willoughby State Forest in New England, its beauty lies in the fact that it’s sandwiched between Mount Pisgah and Mount Hor. One can do plenty of things in Lake Willoughby. Kayaking, paddleboarding, and fishing, and even spending the night.

3. Yellowstone Lake

Yellowstone Lake is a unique lake in the sense that it’s located in one of the most geologically active areas in the world.

With millions of visitors each year, the national park where the lake is located has plenty of services to offer. You can centre your vacation around the lake doing all sorts of activities, and when you’re done, do other interesting things in Yellowstone National Park.

4. Crater Lake

Speaking of geologically active, Crater Lake was once a very geologically active location. Before Mount Mazama blew up, changing the landscape of the entire area, Crater Lake had a volcano in its centre.

Today, places like Wizard Island and Phantom Ship serve as reminders of the once great volcano in the area. Crater Lake is a must-visit if you’re looking for a cool getaway.

5. Lake Tahoe

Last but not the least on this list is another inter-state lake. Lake Tahoe is located between California and Nevada and is the largest alpine lake in North America. It’s the second deepest lake in the country at 1,645 feet deep, and is so clear you can see fish swimming below clearly.

There are plenty of beaches, ski resorts, and other vacation spots in Lake Tahoe, but Emerald Bay State Park, Vikingsholm, and Heavenly Mountain Resort are some of the highly suggested spots.
