The sun is out, and the winds of summer are now passing us by, however, here are our 8 favorite rooftop bars open in NYC right now. Although outdoor dining on sidewalks, parking spots, and roadways are now becoming increasingly more popular, there’s one gem that you should not sleep on!

Rooftop bars and restaurants are starting to open up for the people of New York and providing views and services that we all missed. The cool breeze and the elevated view along with a few drinks and food to make your taste buds rejoice, what more is missing in these heaven-like establishments?

Here are 8 of our favorite rooftop bars and restaurants in NYC to enjoy socially-distant drinking and fun!

SERRA by Birreria

Starting with a rooftop bar that has some serious Italian flair, Serra can you can find fourteen floors above Eataly in the Flatiron District. With a plethora of expensive cocktails, delicious dishes, and even a multi-course dinner, you can have a fancy night out with your partner or with a couple of friends (a socially distant night out, of course).

What makes Serra unique is the abundance of flours used both as decoration and as ingredients for their meals and cocktails. Yes, you heard that right, flowers. They have dishes that show different ways in which they use edible flowers, seeds, and even pollen to elevate the flavors of the meal!

RH Rooftop Restaurant NYC

Restoration Hardware has a socially distant lounge seating that’s Instagram worthy. The minimalistic and yet summery vibe that it emits is like no other! The restaurant serves brunch and dinner items that they help on a beautiful granite table.

From dishes such as truffle fries, lobster, caesar salad, and many more classics, you’ll be sure to leave with a full belly and some takeout leftover! They also have some alcohol available if you want to get buzzed, but make sure you don’t have too much fun.

The Heights Bar & Grill

Located on the second level of the Morningside Heights Bar, this rooftop setting can be partially enclosed, which means that the party doesn’t stop even when it rains! With different flavored margaritas, a plethora of cocktails, and even some food to help fill up your stomach, The Heights is perfect if you want to have a good time with your friends.

Their seats are distanced to make sure the risk of transmission is low, and you have to make sure you’re wearing a mask when you’re not eating or drinking!

Zona de Cuba

This lively Cuban rooftop bar is lined with palm trees, vibrant red decor, aesthetically pleasing lights, and a felt-like red carpet for the floor. They serve brunch and dinner similar to RH, but they serve up an incredible array of Caribbean staples.

From coconut shrimp to a selection of steak cuts, partying here will always feel like a special occasion. Make sure to get a reservation, though, as there are limited sports!

Cantina Rooftop

If you’re looking for a rooftop restaurant/bar that has a spice of Mexican flair, Cantina is the place for you! With a colorful patio setting filled with vibrant, yet soft colored chairs and metal tables that cement the look.

Serving up margarita pitchers, enchiladas, tacos, and different types of guacamole, you can get both comfort and a good time in Cantina. Reservations are required though because of COVID.

Sushi Lab Rooftop

This list wouldn’t be complete without a great Japanese restaurant. Sushi Lab has expanded its rooftop and can seat 30 people with an extra eight next to the chef’s counter. As the name implies, they serve small plate Japanese dishes such as sushi, and if you want to try their version of tuna tacos and salmon belly, you can try those as well!

Note: You need a reservation to get an entry to the restaurant.

Westlight

Westlight is a rooftop bar with a stellar view of the coast and skyscrapers of New York. Their cocktail selection is stellar, and they serve fantastic chicken empanadas. We recommend trying out their harissa grilled steak because it’s out of this world!

Make sure to get a reservation because it’s needed for entry, and spots run out quickly!

Summerly

A rooftop bar with an attitude, Summerly is a restaurant and bar located at the top of Hoxton. With summer classics like lobster rolls, grilled shrimp, and even dessert options like sorbets, it would be a crime not to try them out.
