Here is our Guide to NYC Restaurants Opening this Fall! New York City is slowly winning its fight against coronavirus as the percentage of positive virus cases has remained below 1% over the past month. This means good news to businesses, as this can be a signal for a vibrant economy.

Restaurateurs have been forging ahead of their opening plans. With the positive outdoor dining outcome, more and more restaurants are planning to open their doors (both old and new) finally.

Some restaurants are still working and waiting for indoor dining arrangements and new rent agreements. But what is more exciting to look forward to is that more restaurants are opening soon!

Guide to NYC Restaurants Opening this Fall

Here is our NYC restaurant guide that will be opening this fall:

1. Rolo’s

Target Opening: Mid October

Address: 853 Onderdonk Avenue, at Cornelia Street, Ridgewood

This new Ridgewood restaurant plants to offer their clients sumptuous treats through wood-fired cooking. A pre-set menu, which costs around $17, includes three to five dishes that would perfectly complement each other. Try their meatballs with spicy tomato sauce and their fried chicken with jalapeno focaccia.

With the new indoor dining restrictions, Rolo’s can still accommodate dozens of people inside. Even the four Gramercy Tavern vets behind it are planning to focus on takeout, delivery initially, and a grocery store set up.

2. Em Vietnamese Bistro

Target Opening: November

Address: 57 Front Street, between Main and Dock Streets, Dumbo

The opening of Em’s new location might finally be happening this coming November. Originally set to open last May. The start was halted because of the coronavirus pandemic and because owners Patrick Lin and Chey Ly Nguyen are expecting their first child.

When Em opened in its first location last 2018, it had many loyal patrons and even got the approval of New York Times critic Ligaya Mishan.

During its opening, Em will initially offer a limited dinner menu. They are still planning for a full service opening in February 2021 with a menu that will include Vietnamese style seafood tapas, buttery noodles, and many more.

3. Milu

Target Opening: Late September, October

Address: 333 Park Avenue South, between East 24th and East 25th Streets

Chef Connie Chung made a name in finance dining with his nearly decade-long stint in Eleven Madison Park. But he’s now ready to take on a new adventure with Milu being a fast-casual restaurant. He works with his partners Milan Sekulic and Vincent Chao, a former director of business development at Eleven Madison Park and the Nomad.

Milu is located just one block away from the three-Michelin starred Eleven Madison Park. Milu will be serving rice bowls topped with duck, brisket, and Sichuan-spiced cauliflower. They will also offer a la carte dishes and family-style meals.

4. Dhamaka

Target Opening: Last week of October

Address: 88 Essex Street, at Delancey Street, Lower East Side

Adda and Rahi, the duo behind Dhamaka, are determined to finally open the restaurant months after the planned opening was pushed back. Dhamaka is conveniently located within the Essex Crossing mega-development.

They are planning to open 30 outdoor seats and will open for a limited capacity of indoor dining. Try their goat pulao, chicken curry, baida roti, and egg-stuffed flatbread.

5. Daughter

Target Opening: December

Address: 1090 St. John’s Place, near Kingston Avenue, Crown Heights

December is a time of giving and sharing – a perfect opening target date for Daughter, which has included a community give-back program in its business model.

Adam Keita plans to give 25% of the profits to helping new businesses in Crowns Heights and serve free cafeteria-style meals an hour per day to those in need.

Daughter takes pride in its top-notch coffees, pastries, and natural wines.

6. Sarashina Horii

Target Opening: October

Address: 45 E. 20th Street, near Park Avenue South, Flatiron

Sarashina Horii plans to take advantage of the expansion of dining allowances this coming November. This Japanese restaurant was supposed to open last April but, just like the others, had to push back the plans due to the pandemic.

Yoshinori Horii, the owner and the 9th generation steward of the restaurant, will take the lead in the restaurant’s management. The opening of Sarashina Horii will be the restaurant’s U.S. debut.
