The weather today is amazing; in case you’re thinking of where to eat today, here is our NYC picnic sandwiches for any occasion!

NYC has started to ease lockdown restrictions, and outdoor dining has become a big part of the new normal. Restaurants have laid tables outside their stores to allow their patrons to enjoy their sumptuous dishes despite this pandemic. Another outdoor dining option is going on a picnic. With parks marked with socially distanced marks, you can enjoy a day out and get a hint of what “normal” used to be. But do you want to free yourself from all the tableware you have to bring along with you?

If that’s a yes, then we have a solution for you: sandwich town so it wouldn’t be challenging to find great options. The sandwich’s innate portability makes it an excellent choice for a memorable picnic.

Whether you go to a NYC park, beach, rooftop, or a yard, grab those masks and sanitizers and enjoy your picnic while following social distancing protocols.

NYC Picnic Sandwich for Any Occasion

Now, where to get your sandwiches? Here’s a list!

Blue Sky Deli

Blue Sky Deli (formerly Hajji’s) Chopped Cheese is a must-have! Imagine chopped beef in a generous amount of American cheese, peppers, onions, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, and mayo. Just reading about it makes you want to order it now. If you are nearby Thomas Jefferson Park, then drop by their store and get one.

Ciao, Gloria

We recommend that you get the Italian Disco Club for this one. It’s a combination of your classic turkey avocado, smoked mozz, crispy prosciutto, sweet and savory tomato capote, and Calabrese aioli. They also have lunch options available, and if you’re going for it, we recommend their House Made Focaccia. You can order via Caviar.

Otaku Katsu

This Japanese restaurant also has a different take on their sandwiches. There must try their Tamago Sando that has kewpie mayo and a yummy soft-boiled egg inside. You can also try their bacon steak sandwich with grilled pork belly (now that’s something interesting to work) or their classic katsu Sandos with pork, chicken, and salmon. You can order by calling them or ordering through their website.

Blume

We have three recommendations for this new backyard restaurant: Farmer’s sandwich with Black Forest Hand and Austrian Butterkase, double smoked bacon BLT with chive aioli, and European speck with gruyere, homemade pickles, freshly grated horseradish all served on an open-faced baguette. This restaurant might be new on the Upper East Side, but it’s already carving its name with its delectable offers. They also have some German-style sausages and smoked meats.

Drift In

Ever thought of a seafood sandwich? And by seafood we mean lobster? Well, stop imagining it and try one. Drift In is known for its Lobster BLT. It is made with Maine lobster served on a potato bun. It also comes with chips and salads.

Ba Xuyen

How about some banh mi? If you’ve been to Vietnam, you’ll know how special this sandwich is. But no need to go there because Ba Xuyen is bringing it closer to you. We recommend that you get their Pate Thit Nuong – it is crunchy, chewy, meaty, briny, spicy, and has lots of herbs – a perfect balance of tastes in one bun.

Cutlets

Cutlets are known for their quality sandwiches. Their sandwich combinations are a reinvention of classics using natural ingredients. We recommend one of their signature sandwiches – Number One, made of chicken cutlets with thick-cut bacon, white cheddar, and special sauce. How can you miss that?

You can also try their Number Six – a combination of herb-roasted turkey with Cutlets special sauce, sharp provolone, iceberg lettuce, beefsteak tomato, and red onion.

Estrellita Poblana III (EP III)

This Mexican haven will serve you generous amounts of flavors, spice, and Cemita! You shouldn’t miss their Cemitas Milanesa de Res – made of refried bean spread, mayo on a sesame roll top of stretchy cheese, avocado, smoky chipotle peppers, onion, Mexican herbs and your choice of heat. Who knew all these goods could be served in one sandwich?

Black Seed Bagels

Black Seed Bagels have multiple locations in the city. If you ever see one, go for their classic smoked salmon bagel with cream cheese, red, onion, tomato, and capers.
