First on this list is a Jewish-style deli located in Bed-Stuy. Their pastrami is drenched in gravy, has a stronger smoky flavor and spiced up to perfection.

2. Hometown Bar-B-Que
Hometown isn’t a place people normally wouldn’t think to go to for their pastrami, but theirs is still a must-try.
The Texas-style barbecue’s pastrami is probably the smokiest of all the pastramis on this list, which is why we think it deserves a spot.
3. Junior’s
Their extensive menu may confuse you, but since this is a pastrami list, we’ll focus on that. Because Junior’s has a large selection of sandwiches, their deli meats are are top-notch.
Unlike the usual bread for pastrami that other joints use, Junior’s uses onion rolls for theirs for smaller and fuller bites.
4. Sarge
Yes, sarge is owned by an actual sergeant. It opened up in 1964 and has been serving the most overstuffed sandwiches to both locals and tourists ever since.
Sarge is known for their thinly sliced yet flavorful mountain of beef in their pastrami. This local institution is the go-to for people with big appetites.
5. Katz’s Delicatessen
Speaking of institutions, Katz’s has been around for 133 years. Locals claim that their pastrami is the best in the country, and we can’t help but agree.
Katz’s takes pride in their consistently fatty, slightly smoky, steaming pink briskets. If you’re looking for the best of the best. Katz’s is our bet.
