Who doesn’t love desserts? There’s no better way to end a meal than a dessert. But not all desserts are made equal.

This is why in this video, we’ll list five iconic desserts you can find in New York City.

1. Lemon Torta

First on this list is the Lemon Torta at Ci Siamo. This Italian sweet cake’s appeal is in its soft texture and intense lemon flavor.

Ci Siamo doubles down on this by incorporating a tart and buttery texture in every bite, with a side of torched bowl-shaped meringue with a drizzle of olive oil.

2. Rice Pudding

Rice puddings don’t usually stand out but trust us when we say this one does. Lodi’s, a popular restaurant and hangout spot in Rockefeller Center, serves this amazing rice pudding that’s rich but firm, providing a perfect bite.

The Rice pudding by Louis Volle is a stand-out, placed on top of red wine-poached grapes giving off a perfect balance of sweetness, richness, tang, and acidity with every bite.

3. Martabak manis

The Martabak manis at Papa Don NYC is sweet and savory. These Indonesian pancakes aren’t common, but that’s exactly why they’re definitely iconic.

A Martabak manis is topped with coconut flakes or desiccated coconut, coffee, ube, and a drizzle of condensed milk.

4. Rice Milk Hibiscus Swirl

The Rice Milk Hibiscus Swirl can be found at JJ Johnson’s Fieldtrip. Like the name, a Rice Milk Hibiscus Swirl is a mouthful. It’s a soft serve ice cream complemented with a blend of rice milk, raspberries, and hibiscus resulting in a pinkish-purple color.

It’s also vegan because it doesn’t use any dairy products, so the Rice Milk Hibiscus Swirl is definitely for everyone.

5. Fior di latte mochi

It looks like a ball of mozzarella at first glance, but this Fior di latte mochi is nothing like it. The dessert from Don Angie is a milky and creamy gelato that’s complemented well with olive oil and sea salt.

If you haven’t tried it, the balance of salty and sweet, along with the olive oil, is surprisingly good!
