New York isn’t just the melting pot of culture and people. It’s also home to some of the best culinary delights in the world.

For this video, we will look at five iconic dishes you can find in the Big Apple.

1. Beef Patty Concourse Jamaican Bakery

Aside from jerk chicken, nothing is more iconic than the Beef Patty when we talk about Jamaican food. Concourse Jamaican Bakery’s Beef Patty is a classic.

The flavors are well-balanced, the patty is made fresh, the pastry is flaky, and you couldn’t ask for more. The bakery is also located conveniently near the Bronx Museum of Arts.

2. Hero Sandwich at Sal, Kris & Charlie’s Deli

If you haven’t heard of the Hero sandwich yet, it’s time that you do. The Hero sandwich is the epitome of what a New York sandwich is. It’s a long loaf of bread layered with ham, bologna, American cheese, Italian dressing, and lettuce and tomatoes.

This Deli’s version of the Hero sandwich is even better, using salami, turkey, pepperoni, provolone, and mortadella.

3. Al Pastor Tacos at Taco Mix

Taco Mix’s iconic Al pastor tacos are a thing of wonder. Al Pastor Tacos are amazing. Everyone knows that. Grilled slices of pork, cilantro, onions, and soft and chewy tacos. What more can you ask for?

They started in 1991 and have since become a staple loved by locals and tourists alike in their several locations.

4. Xiao Long Bao at Joe’s Shanghai

Joe’s Shanghai, located in Manhattan, has been serving this delicacy since 1994, and there’s a reason why it’s been a best-seller ever since.

The Xiao Long Bao is one of the best dim sum dishes ever. It’s a simple yet addicting soup dumpling full of flavor. If you haven’t tried it yet, trust us when we say you really need to.

5. Banana Pudding at Magnolia Bakery

Last but definitely not least on this list is a dish that’s probably as iconic as it can get. This pudding is packed with banana slices, vanilla pudding, and vanilla wafers that complement every bite.

P.S. Magnolia Bakery is also made an appearance in Sex and the City.
