For casual fans, January 13 may not have any significance, but for people that have been following Miley, we know that it’s the birthday of Liam Hemsworth, the ex-husband of the pop star.
It’s important to note that Miley’s relationship with Liam had always been rocky, and a lot of things didn’t end the right way.
The Chorus
The chorus of the song may seem familiar. This is because it’s an intentional mirror of When I Was Your Man by Bruno Mars, the song Miley and Liam danced to at their wedding.
The chorus is one of the most important aspects of a song, and Miley uses it the right way, digging at her previous lover.
Similar Dresses
This detail could be interpreted in two ways. In the music video for the hit song, Miley dons a gold dress alongside very familiar messy hair. The look can be interpreted as a dig at Liam’s current girlfriend, Gabriella Brooks who wore something similar at a red carpet premiere last year.
However, some fans speculate it could have been a dig at Jennifer Lawrence who also wore something similar for the Hunger Games premiere; a movie also starring Mr. Hemsworth.
The Black Suit
Fans believe that the black suit jacket she wears in the MV is more than just a stylistic choice. The jacket may be a reference to a clip of the two that has been circulating around the internet during the premiere of Avengers: Endgame.
The clip features Miley joking around like how she usually is, pretending to lick him. Liam immediately told her to stop and to “behave for once,” which probably stuck with her.
Alleged Affairs
Last but not least is one that has taken the internet by storm. According to several unofficial sources, the entire music video was filmed in the same house where Liam Hemsworth cheated on Miley with 14 other women.
Although there isn’t any confirmation of this rumor, fans are lighting up Liam for it.
