New York has great food, and the Red Hook area is no exception.

For this video, we’ll list five restaurants you should consider if you’re visiting Red Hook.

1. Grindhaus

Grindhouse is a great first choice. It has a variety of vegetarian-friendly dishes, but it’s not afraid to use meat, either. What makes Grindhaus great is the assortment of dishes in its menu that makes sure no one feels left out.

When visiting Grindhaus, make sure to grab a couple of their freshly baked bread, and don’t forget to ask what’s freshly caught.

P.S. Their artichoke dumplings are a must-try.

2. Defonte’s Sandwich Shop

Defonte’s is practically an institution already. Operating since 1922, they’ve been through 2 world wars and more and are still standing strong. If that isn’t a testament to how great their sandwiches are, we don’t know what is.

Their Nicky special, with an assortment of meats including ham, capicola, and salami, alongside provolone, slices of fried eggplant, pickled vegetables, and hot peppers, are a must-try. However, make sure to bring cash with you as they only accept cash.

3. Reed Hook Lobster Pound

If you’re into seafood, the Lobster Pound is a must-visit. They’re famous for their immaculate fresh lobster rolls but also have great BLT and Tuscan.

However, if you’re visiting the Red Hook Lobster Pound, we suggest that you might as well just gorge on their full lobster dinner, 1.5 lbs of swimming-in-the-tank-fresh Maine Lobster.

4. San Pedro Inn

If you’ve ever been to Bait & Tackle, San Pedro Inn tries to keep its spirit and old-school charm alive. Try everything. If you can, grab a bite of their tacos, quesadillas, tamales, and tostadas. Trust us; you won’t regret it.

If you’re planning on grabbing a couple of drinks too, their assortment of drinks goes well with their variety of dishes too.|

5. Court Street Grocers Hero Shop

Court Street Grocers Hero Shop may just be a grab-and-go storefront, but they’re the best at it. Their creative selection of upmarket breakfast and lunch sandwiches are to die for, and their multiple branches distributed all over Carroll Gardens, Greenwich Village, and Williamsburg are a testament to that.

If you’re looking for something to try, their Italian Combo Sandwich with mortadella, soppressata, swiss, mozzarella, pecorino romano, and arugula is a sandwich to consider.
