Hulu may not be the first name that pops up in your head if you hear the words “subscription-based streaming service,” but it’s one of the more underrated ones.

For this video, we’ll be taking a look at five hidden gems on Hulu you should be watching if you haven’t yet.

1. Raiders!: The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made

As the first entry on this list, this motivational documentary is one of the best things you can watch on Hulu. It documents and recounts the trials and tribulations of the amazing people who decided to spend decades making a no-budget, shot-for-shot remake of Raiders of the Lost Ark, the first and arguably greatest Indiana Jones movie to have ever come from the franchise.

2. Mass

Mass explores the story of two couples, both experiencing horrible tragedies a couple years laterter. One couple is the parents of the victim of a school shooting, and the other is the parents of the perpetrator.

This harrowing film digs deep and tugs at your heartstrings, making you realize that grief and loss in tragedies like these are two-way, giving a voice to the parents of a mass shooter and showing us how they’ve dealt with something unimaginable.

3. Memories of Murder

Anything made by “Parasite” writer and director Bong Joon-ho is an amazing film, and “Memories of Murder” is no exception. Released in 2003, this South Korean crime thriller film gives more of a fresh, raw, and spirited filmmaking vibe from Bong Joon-ho as opposed to the calculated and choreographed masterpiece he made in Parasite.

Nevertheless, this film explores the story of the first confirmed serial killings in Korea.

4. Shoplifters

If hidden gem was a movie, Shoplifters isn’t underrated by any means as it’s rated a whopping 99% on Rotten Tomatoes, but a lot hasn’t seen it of people, and that makes it a hidden gem.

Shoplifter is a movie about a dysfunctional band of outsiders united by loyalty and a penchant for petty theft. The movie begins with their young son being arrested, and it unfolds from there.

5. Amazing Grace

Last but not least on this list, also rated 99% on Rotten Tomatoes, Amazing Grace is a powerful documentary that gets as close as any documentary can to capturing the out-of-this-world enigma that is Aretha Franklin.

Whether you’re a fan or not, this hidden gem can be for you. Who knows? You might end up a fan after.
