Pizzas have always been one of the staples in New York. With so many pizzeria options to choose from in NYC, it can be confusing where and what to look for.

In this video, we’ll list five pizzerias in New York City you must visit.

1. Pasty’s Pizzeria

You can’t go wrong with Pasty’s. It’s one of the oldest coal-over pizzerias in East Harlem and has since been franchised all over New York.

Aside from its history, Pasty’s is one of the more affordable pizzerias on this list. Their Old School Round, topped with pepperoni, sausage, meatballs, and anchovies, is the dish to try.

2. Famous Ben’s Pizza

Famous Ben’s is one of the most popular pizzerias in New York. They have been successful since 1979 thanks to their Sicilian pizzas and recipes.

Their Vodka Pizza, which has just vodka sauce and fresh mozzarella, stands out. For an even more unique dish, their Lasagna Pizza, which is topped with literal lasagna noodles and everything that goes on a lasagna, is also a pizza to try.

3. Joe’s Pizza

A name like Joe’s Pizza means one of two things: It’s either extremely generic or a pizzeria that’s been an institution for the locals. For Joe’s, it’s the latter. They’ve been open since 1975 and are one of the city’s must-tries.

Their classic pepperoni pizza is close to perfection. Its crust is thin and crispy, and the cheese is just right. Combine it with their tomato sauce blend, and you’ll get a classic comfort food.

4. Paulie Gee’s

Paulie Gee is one of the newer names on this list. While they have the classics down to a notch, their highlights are the newer, more innovative pizzas.

Their Benny Gee, with fresh mozzarella, Canadian bacon, and hollandaise drizzle, is the pizza to try. For vegans, they also have several options.

5. Lombardi’s

You can’t have a New York pizza list without Lombardi’s. They’re also the store that claimed to have developed the New York Style of pizza. It’s the oldest pizzeria in New York and is frequented by tourists and locals daily.

There’s no better way to cap off your New York vacation than visiting the pizzeria that is credited to have started it all.
